1A Note on Scale: Although protoss tower over terrans, the StarCraft RPG assumes a greater allowance for the Medium size category than the core rules do. This is due to two factors. First, the baseline of the game must necessarily shift slightly in order to accommodate the fact that so many combatants are assumed to be larger than Medium. Three-meter protoss zealots and hulking CMC-armored marines are the standard forces fielded by each race. Secondly, the game must make this concession in order cling to the skeleton of D&D, in which only rarely do PCs exceed the Medium category. Therefore, the game declares that protoss are Medium size, as are armored and unarmored terrans.
2Protoss and Language: Protoss communicate telepathically, although the language that they “speak” is called Khalani. Although terrans usually hear only meaningless noise when receiving protoss telepathy, some protoss are able to “translate” these bursts of psionic energy into a form that is intelligible by terrans. It is assumed that protoss PCs, being the exceptional individuals that they are, have this talent. For this reason, protoss PCs can communicate telepathically with any creature that has a language, though some protoss NPCs may be limited to Khalani telepathy.
